Spatial inhomogenities in the microwave background could be useful for
ultra-deep-space navigation. Unfortunately, I have no idea how they
change over long periods of time. Also, the observed Doppler shift (one
hemisphere bluer, one redder) due to own movement gives one a global
frame of reference for speed of travel.
