Question:

The concept of memes seems to be quite useful in organizing thinking
about ideas and beliefs and how they spread. But I have never seen or
heard of any scientific models which have explicitly incorporated memes
as a unit of analysis. Does anyone know whether it has been done, and
what the results were?

It seems to me that "memetic modelling" should help sociologists and
especially linguists tremendously by formalizing their own theories, and yet
I have never seen any of it. Why?
