Maybe that's because the two have in fact very little in common,
apart from a desire to "transcend" or whatever. Transhumanism
is a practical, serious philosphy (probably the "ultimate" philosophy)
while the above groups (and some others like the Church of Virus
etc.) are either [intended as] jokes or are New Age with a thin
transhuman coating.
Btw, I just joined the Physical Immortality list
(description: "a forum for people who want to spearhead
the achievement of physical immortality in our lifetime")
at ONElist. Is anyone familiar with this one?
