The reason is that for most people, writing an email is fun, but
writing a paper is work. Since people here are not payed for their
contributions, they mostly contribute in ways that are fun. If there
were a lot of professors of transhumanism out there, I bet we would
see plenty of papers.

But do write more papers, guys, please!
