An AI that didn't know when it should be bored would not be much of an AI.
Boredom is a wonderful thing, when it's working properly it keeps you from
"exploring" endless loops. I would even go so far as to say that if you found a
way to give a machine good boredom detecting skills then you'd be 80%
of the way toward a true AI because then it would know the proper area to
aim its finite mental firepower at.
