If I recall correctly, Alfven's arguments hinge on the presence of
ambiplasma clouds (i.e. low density mixtures of matter and antimatter
that remain semistable due to the low density). Unfortunately there is
no observational evidence for the annihilation signature they would
still show (and it would be rather hard to miss), and this provides a
stroung counterargument to the model.
