According to Feynman's sum over histories method of making quantum
calculations when a photon of light moves from point A to point B virtual
photons take every possible path and move at every possible speed . To find
out what the real photon is doing you must add up all these paths and speeds.
Most of these virtual photons canc*l out so that all you ever observe is a
real photon that moves in a straight line and at speed c.
