He wouldn't either, as his mail client would've decoded it automagically.
It's a bit tricky to see the actual "source" of a mail with Outlook & Co.: Hit Alt+Enter on the message (or choose properties from the context menu), click the "Details"-tab and then click the button labeled "View source".
