If we hold that the subsummation James posits is
100% bad, and thus individual entities should not
be unconsciously subsumed into larger entities,
then we individuals would not even exist, for the
individual ameba and primary cells should not have
been subsumed into the large collective entities
that each of us as human beings are.
But the individual cells do not know of the collective entity, nor do
they have any way of understanding it. However, just because their
individual actions amount to a collective intelligence they are no
less individual. If I call a selection of people a "society" I can
then treat it as a new entity, yet the people in that collective are
no less individuals. The collectives behaviour is a sum of the
individuals behaviour. This is merely definition - just as I can call
a society "people" I can call a person "cells."
Free-market capitalism = real socialism
Central planning = pseudo-socialism
Centralism to a collective entity is like having a brain where all the
neurons are controlled by a single neuron. Which, I guess, would be
pretty stupid.
BTW, free-market capitalism is only 'less-centralist' it's not
entirely non-centralist.
