One can prepare a more properly formatted paper (or post one already prepared)
that looks a darn sight better than plain text. Sorry, from my publishing
experience, I put probably more value into the structure and appearance of a
document, as aids in being clear, readable, and organised, than someone, like,
say, a Unix hound ;). Plus the ability to put tastefully created graphics when the
need strikes (tables, 'proof' images, schematics) as well as using tables to
convey data, rather than the haphazard and usually messed up plain ascii tables so
many people unsuccessfully try. Being able to create a small email message in HTML
that is aesthetically pleasing, conveys data artfully, and acts as a front end to
more in depth information on a website that one can link to directly makes
communication far more effective than simple text.
