Warrl writes
: I read once that a prior Queen of England (Victoria, I believe) went
: to a performance of a play, and afterward, declared the play to be
: "aweful and artificial".
: And the playwright was thrilled to hear this praise of his work.
You may be thinking of the 18th century edifice (St Paul's?) which was
praised as "gaudy, pompous and artificial."
