Michael Lorry responded to my recent questions on the expansion of democracy and eliminating the "them vs. us" syndrome by proposing greater decentralization of government and eventually greater initiative and referendum leading to full participative democracy.
I have no argument with Mr. Lorry's proposals.
Ultimately, I suspect that we can have a fully participative democracy with all legislative proposals eminating directly from the citizenry. If this is to happen, however, it would seem logical that this advance be preceded by the changes in our educational system. In this schema emphasis would be placed on scientific method, independent and skeptical critical reasoning, with constructive creativity focused on an understanding that society functions best when placed ahead of the self.
