It may well happen. I remember when a four-function calculator cost
more than many TVs do now. Now they're given away as free gifts and
come in credit-card or watch sizes. The Toshiba Libretto, which is
about the size of a VCR cartridge, has a Pentium 75 processor, runs
Windows 95, and has 16MB of memory and 770MB of hard disk, costs about
$1700 now. It's not beyond the pale that such machines might cost less
than a library book within ten years, and get more durable besides.
