The Fabric of Reality

I made a reference to Michael Talbot's "The Holographic Universe".

     Damien Broderick replied:

Yawn. (Sorry, Rick. This is one of the `woolly masters'.)
Lee Smolin's book on budding universes turns out to have something of
the same metaphysical (Leibnizean) tendency [luckily, about a zillion
times more rigorous than poor Talbot], but alas he finished it before
M-theory really kicked in. In utter ignorance of the fine-grain
detail, I note that it looks to me as if Smolin's loopy space and
brane theory might converge in a geometrodynamical TOE.

AH! Damien, y'got me in a mad dog paddle all of a sudden. Talbot's
book may have been pablum but when you're a baby, it's digestable.
M-theory? Kicking in? Loopy space? Brane (sp??) theory? And sorry,
but acronyms are too plentiful...TOE??? I'm receptive and I'm ready
for a chewier meal. Your direction is requested.
