Well, there's plain silliness. But stuff that makes your burst out laughing?
Yeah, pretty much has to do with somebody getting the short end of the stick.

I know Heinlein commented on this in _Stranger in a Strange Land_, and I
wouldn't be a bit surprised if he was cribbing from someone else.
