A cheering piece of news. Brain electrodes are slowly becoming
better, although I still find them awfully crude (I want a
3D mesh of nanofibers with 10-50 micrometer spacing! :-). Similar
methods have been tried for other problems, although Parkinson's
disease is ideal since we have a fairly clear idea of what regions
have died.
Actually, the basal ganglia (which are damaged in the disease) may be
very important for planning and procedural memory. We should not
forget to upgrade them in the future.
