I enjoy being able to show off that I am conversant with the rules of
written American English, so for that one funny elitist reason, it's fun to
have some illogical rules about. Other than that, I think this rule is
really dumb. It's like putting sentence punctuation inside a hypertext
link. Oooh, I hate that!
