I agree with you, but I think we can find the ecstasy of life and spirit
in technology too. I find a mossy stone in a stream to be an expression of
the fantastic creativity of the universe, but also the delightful patterns
of circuit cards or ethernet traffic reflect this.

I look forward to a future where life and technology have blended
together, so that there is no sharp division and no reason to find one or
less spiritual than the other.

One cannot become immortal without dying. The price of true immortality
is change and growth, and that will kill you in a more gradual manner as
your new self develops our of the old. What should be abolished is
*unplanned* sudden dying, not death when desirable.
