Umm, what's a "hopane"? Poiuter, please?

And does anyone have a good pointer to up-to-date info on the
"alternate" DNA coding that was in the press a few years back? I
don't remember if it was found in hyperthermophilic entities or not,
but I do seem to recall that it had used a normal "stop" codon to
code for a protein...
