I think it's time for a bit of a break from the usual conversation.
Here's a poem I wrote a while ago, hopefully
you'll find it uplifting.
Former Futures
Add to the world's histories
With the things we already know
Substitute future for present
For a better past tomorrow
And if we add to the world's mysteries
With the things we do not know
It might not be bad but pleasant
To see there is still more to know
With a little bit of hindsight
To help us on our way
We can make tomorrow
Better than today
The past can be deceiving
A fact observed and known
But with a backward glance at mistakes
A future tree's seeds can be sown
Some have trouble believing
That this world has progressed and grown
But now it's time to raise the stakes
Time to let the future atone
With a little bit of hindsight
To help us on our way
We can make tomorrow
Better than today
This world is sure to flourish
If we surpass 'future dread'
Now dwell upon yesterdays
But harvest tomorrow instead
