I think you may be premature on that one. I certainly see plenty of
evidence to the contrary--mothers groom their kids everywhere I look,
and the kids reciprocate.

Further, it has been argued that a certain amount of social conversation
serves as a substitute for grooming. If true, have we really transcended?

The wonderful thing about transcendence, in my view, is that one can
choose what qualities one wants to retain, or even enhance. I think
Max said something of the kind recently.
