The objective of this conference is to bring together researchers in
ethology, psychology, ecology, artificial intelligence, artificial
life, robotics, and related fields so as to further our understanding
of the behaviors and underlying mechanisms that allow natural and
artificial animals to adapt and survive in uncertain
environments.
The conference start with an opening reception on Sunday, September
8th. Technical sessions start in the morning on Monday, September 9th
and run until early Friday afternoon. The conference banquet will be
held on Thursday evening, September 12th, and tickets for it are sold
separately and in advance. Wednesday afternoon is left free for
sightseeing.

The invited speakers are James Albus, Jelle Atema, Daniel Dennett,
Randy Gallistel, Scott Kelso, and David Touretzky.
The conference will consist of a single track of 35 papers, 30
posters, and several demonstrations. Full details of the schedule

HOTEL DEADLINE FOR BLOCKED ROOMS IS AUGUST 8TH
The entire conference will take place at the Sea Crest in North
Falmouth on Cape Cod. Participants should fly into Boston Logan
Airport and either rent a car or take the Bonanza Shuttle Bus ($30
r/t, see schedule on Web page) to Falmouth, and transfer to the hotel
by the hotel shuttle.
All participants are responsible for making their own reservations by
contacting the group reservations office at (800) 225-3110, and must
state they are attending the Simulation of Adaptive Behavior
Conference in order to receive the special rate. 200 rooms have been
set aside for our use, and are being held on a first-come first-served
basis until August 8th. Single and double rooms are available for $90
plus tax. Children under 16 may stay in their parent's room for
free. The rooms have two double beds; 3 or 4 persons may share a room
for $100 and $110 plus tax, respectively. The conference rate also
applies to the 3 days before and 3 days after the meeting dates. Each
room reservation must be secured with a credit card deposit for one
night.
If a reservation is cancelled 8 days or more prior to arrival, the deposit
is refunded, minus a $10 service charge. If a reservation is cancelled 7 days
or less prior to arrival, or the individual does not show up for the
specified dates, the reservation will be cancelled and the deposit
forfeited.
In case of overflow, the Quality Inn (508) 540-2000 and the Falmouth
Inn (508) 540-2500 have rooms available at $65 and $60 per night plus
tax.
