A variation on this is to incrementally grow an interface to a standard
"socket" into which varied premanufactured neural nets may be attached. I
imagine a kind of "Tower Records" store which has thousands of neural nets
available for almost any purpose, just like music CDs. It also simplifies
unistalling, just unplug the chip.... BTW, I recall something on this topic
in Neuromancer....
