A few months ago Keith Henson was commenting that with ever more vivid VR
simulations, let alone fully experienced upload virtual worlds that perhaps
real space exploration would never happen. Instead, we would experience well
designed simulations which are indistinguishable from the real thing, and if
this fact is lost, we experience an ever expanding view of our navels....
I pointed out that from this POV, I have just sigend up to the series,
"Heroes of Cryonics and Extropians, the 90's"
it, that this immediate experience I have is just a well disguised uploaded VR.
BTW, I recall in high school English a raging discussion one day about
whether God exists. I suggested that perhaps all this is a computer program.
I was totally ignored.....
