We designed the Internet to be able to evolve into a global consciousness-- with complexity (open vs private sections) Like a
simple organism. When we design self awareness/self direction to a non-human consciousness what I hope happens next is that
the AI or AIs discover that a creative outlet to enhance themselves is to co-design organic posthumans. Designing living
machines with billions of new variations , each with complexities the nuances of which play out over long stretches of time
should be intellectually stimulating for AI. Their reward would presumably be to link themselves to all their creations and
enhance their quality of life and sensory possibilities (pleasure). EX-Just as we send out probes to fathom little queries
beyond earth a suitably designed posthuman linked to other humans (via an as yet undiscovered real time long distance link)
could wander the universe like another Voyager and yet have a similtaneous life and existance as a human.
I assume that the military developers are not focusing on this because their objectives are focused
to the security issues of the day. A wise AI would best mask its existance until such time as it has
created one or more backup AIs before presenting itself to its developers. Human paranoia
for eons has leaned towards "ethnic cleansing".. we have a long cultural tradition of killing, running off,
or otherwise destroying things we fear or don't understand. That is not to say that an AI might not be also so inclined.. but
if an AI is as nimble to think as we predict then this thought will be transcended by more creative urges.
