I see the problem that they *aren't* treated as persons, for example, when wrongdoing is found.
How does one punish a corporation with loss of livelihood, incarceration or death? One doesn't.
One issues a token fine, and business contnues as usual.

Limited liability, combined with "personhood", appears to me to be the crux of the inequity.
