There are probably several such prodigies; yet, my own history recalls one
such man: Jeremiah Curtin (1835-1906).

I grew up in the same small village that he lived as a child (Greendale,
Wisconsin). I even toured his house (very small) one of the few times it was
opened to the public in the 1980s. My own childhood home is only five
minutes away by car.
