I'd have to contest that. While it may be said that it causes large
numbers of deaths, injuries, and destruction of infrastructure, it is
also in some cases the only way to achieve justice, or at least the
most efficient.

For example, had Patton gotten the go-ahead at the end of WWII to keep
on marching against the USSR, certainly at least a few more million
people would have died, at least until we nuked Moscow and decapitated
the 'evil empire' later on in the year, after we had subjugated Japan.

Had we shown the intestinal fortitude to do so, half the population of
the world would have lived in liberty for 45 years earlier than they do
now. China might not have gone communist.

In the calculus of liberty, are a million deaths worth gaining liberty
for 100 million others?

Had we continued in the same milquetoast policy followed by Clinton
after 9/11, Afghanistan would still be under al Qaeda/Taliban control,
where people would still be getting executed for posessing western
music, bibles, or for walking around without their burkhas. Aren't the
few lives lost worth liberty for ten million people?

Do western leftists value liberty so little that they do see as worth
dying for?
