My roommate actually found it before I did and asked if I'd heard about "some extropian/transhumanist building for cryonics?" -- and I
immediately thought of John Grigg and the Creekside Preserve... so I
was surprised when it turned out to be something different.

Based on my sources I get the impression the Timeship project IS moving forward steadily due to the financial powerhouses Saul Kent and Bill Faloon. The key matter now to those behind it is where to put it and supposedly a location near Disneyworld is a very strong possibility.

I find it interesting that for a time the Timeship website was actually password protected, but now it appears fully open again to the general public.

There has been considerable debate on Cryonet as to the wisdom of building this modern-day "shrine" to cryonics. On the one hand it may provide much needed infrastructure and publicity, yet on the other it may be seen domestically and especially abroad by some as a symbol of American/cryonicist austantaciousness and wastefulness. It might even be targeted by terrorists for those very reasons which makes me very nervous despite claims by its designers that it will be well fortified against attack.

I admit although I have my reservations about the project, that the descriptions of the place as it may be built make my heart skip a beat with excitement. I just would not want to be stored there!

Whatever the case may be it appears by about 2007 the place will be up and running...

The Creekside Preserve/Ventureville community will not be as flashy, but will still be a great, low-key place to either visit or live. The "mundane" beauty and normality of what we are building will be one of our greatest strengths. I hope you can all eventually visit us to see firsthand what we have to offer.

best wishes for the future,

John
