I think you have to put it in the proper context -- it was the Alcor Life
Extension Conference. It had a mix of both lay people who would be unfamiliar
with the demographic trends discussed and scientists from other fields that might
not know the demographics or economics. I found the economic data highly
fascinating (I've worked in this field and had never seen those numbers
discussed previously). He may have included it to offset the recent
Scientific American article saying that there is no such thing as
"anti-aging medicine".

Actually, Robert is far from a "celebrity". He is a very unassuming guy.
