I'm interested in the "proof that they work" question. How can this be
done without, say, getting a large scale study that takes a human life
time to complete? I think current studies on antioxidants and other
supplements and drugs are very suggestive in this area. Certainly,
there are clinically proven health benefits -- contrary to another
person's statement on this list -- but nothing definitive in terms of
longevity -- or only sketchy results in that area. (I've placed my bet
on the chemical life extension side and believe it's a "rational bet.")
