Certainly it is an advantage to human morale and
wellbeing to have long-lived grandparents, but it
is unclear to me that it is a factor in breeding
more offspring. I can imagine some factors which
could cause those with living grandparents to sire
fewer larvae than those with deceased grandparents:
the notion that there is plenty of time might encourage
the couple to wait longer before breeding, the
possible moral constraints the grandparents might
provide against careless copulation, possible
increased pressure from parents for young couples
to breed early, since they would not have worries
about caring for their parents, etc. spike
