I enjoyed the original Russian film very much, though it was very long and slow in places. A viewer just had to let the film work it's strange and mesmerizing mood onto them.

I wonder how the remake will be having gotten the "hollywood" treatment. In some ways it MAY be better than the original. My one complaint of the Russian film was it did not show the planet (the spacestation orbited) and its lifeforms as described in the novel.

George Clooney is a gifted actor in my opinion. I hope he got a good script. I am still shocked Hollywood would choose this film to be made!! It seems far too cerebral and slow-moving for the them.

best wishes,

John
