I followed Amara's pointer, and was out from 2:20 to 2:40. I had
checked out the lights earlier in the evening while walking the dog,
and the moon was bright enough that my back yard was likely to be as
good a place as anything within an hour's drive. I saw about 27
meteors in that time. But the best one I saw was was at 9pm while out
with the dog. That one had a 3 second flight and a very bright tail.
One friend was up for an hour and saw a half dozen. (I'm in Mountain
View, he was in Menlo Park.) Another friend drove out to Pacheco Pass
where he could borrow a cabin for the night. He said he counted 130 in
the first hour and didn't count after that.

My S.O. stayed warm in bed and didn't seem upset that she missed it.
