I take this as yet another example of the Popper-Bartley thesis on the
growth of knowledge -- or, more specifically, the unintended
consequences in the spread of ideas.

Cheers!

Subject: Eminem article in... Turkey!

Folks,

I recently added a link to my update page
(http://www.nyu.edu/projects/sciabarra/update.htm), highlighting my
Eminem article in THE FREE RADICAL. Good capitalist that I am, I did
this because on Friday, November 8, Eminem's movie "8 Mile" makes its
debut in the U.S., and I thought that by highlighting an Eminem link on
my site, I'd bring more traffic to it. I have indeed had more traffic
to my site, but I don't know if it has anything to do with Eminem, or if
the Eminem article is getting more hits at SOLO/Free Rad.

Anyway, the reason why I mention all this is because I just did a search
on "sciabarra" and "eminem" on google. Aside from the fact that the
article was reprinted in part in the newsletter of the Society for
Lesbian and Gay Philosophy, it is also now on the syllabus of this
course, "Backlash Towards Women":

http://www.bilkent.edu.tr/~fye/courses/arikanS101

Instructor Tugce Arikan is teaching this course at Bilkent University in
Bilkent Ankara, TURKEY! During the week of 9-13 December, Arikan will
turn to "Misogyny in Music," and will be focusing on "The Paradox of
Eminem: Will the Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up?"

This cyber medium never ceases to amaze me.

Cheers,
Chris
