But sometimes this works in our favor! : ) While the evil Mechanoid race of Palladium Games fame were hell-bent on exterminating humanity, they carried out inside their solar system sized home base an experiment involving a micro-black hole which "kind of" got out of control... lol The place was never heard from again!
So at that point humanity only had to contend with a visiting mothership about the size of North America... This made for much better odds by comparison!
The Mechanoid race was spawned when a very advanced race of humanoids used genetic engineering & cybernetic implantation to radically modify the bodies of some of their people for deep space exploration. When these astronauts returned they were met with prejudice and hostility which resulted in a nasty war and the extermination of the mainline aliens. The Mechanoids by this time had developed a burning desire to kill any lifeform which at all resembled their former brethren.
The Mechanoids Palladium roleplaying game had excellent artwork and imagination going for it. And I felt a thoughtful underlying message as well in explaining how the Mechanoids got that way.
Anders might have a great conversation with a curious Oracle class Mechanoid, but he would not want to bump into any of the others!
best wishes,
John
