Amazing!
I copied the pic into photoshop and cut out the two squares and put
them side by side. I did find that if you put you hands, one either side of
the squares. Shuttering out the cylinder and the left of the pic. The two
squares do start to look different. this suggests that the illusion is an
artefact of the entire picture. or maybe i'm just desperate to convince
myself that the squares are different shades :o)
