Re: On the future of lying

Under current bodylocked states more effective lie detectors are already in
use (facial and eye recognition systems). The Western Australian police
system is proposing introducing them, amongst others.

I personally recommend not lying in order to behave ethically.

However, the notion of total transparency of thought is inimical to free
will. The idea of Singularitarian sysop (systems operation) as protective
shielding is I believe the idea to explore. Non-consensual intrusion into
the neuorological systems of others under the conditions of the predawn as
we move proceed through the final stages of the beginning Singularity is
unethical because it breaches the idea of freedom of choice and empathetic
love of others. The proper solution to non-consensual force is sysop, not
invasive totalitarian monitoring and control.

As far as politicians and their promises are concerned, I suggest other
possibilities than lie detectors. For example, in a world of
self-replicating Drexlerian assemblers, it would be possible to have more
levels of government including local governments. These local governments
can have particular cultural flavours. This principle could be extended
further in virtualities. There could be more frequent elections. There could
be more frequent voting on particular issues. There could be core lists of
promises and default elections if they are not adhered to. There could be
disclosure of donations while money exists. Etc.. There is a lot of
potential for creative thought in this area.
