It is not at all "obvious" that it is religion or primarily
religion that is opposed to certain new technologies or new
technology in general. Some of those technologies are opposed
even more vigorously in some European countries where the
density of fundamentalist religious folks is far lower than in
the US. Perhaps you need to read a bit more deeply than the
"hadlines".
