The following tips might be of interest to the list (would be interesting to
see more, similar tips and/or comments, suggestions and criticisms):

- when going for surgery, get a pint of your own blood frozen (at the
hospital), just in case there might be the need for a transfusion. This way
you won't have to worry about the blood having been screened properly and
about any as yet unknown pathogens out there.

- carry an aspirin with you (and chew it in case of a cardiac)

- when flying, carry with you a see-trough plastic bag and put it on your head
in case of fire. Apparently many air crash victims die of smoke inhalation
after the plane has crashed. The air in the bag would allow you a few minutes
- hopefully enough to get out of the plane.

- when flying, ask for a wing seat (*apparently* those are the safest)
