Spike,
I really don't know. There is an old joke among hillbilly guitarists.
If you go into the same room with Chet Atkins (or some other expert
guitarist) you'll have to either lay your guitar down or ask for lessons. I
find myself in that same position with Herrnstein, Sowell or Williams --
actually there are some others. Refering back to the joke, I have to either
lay my guitar down or ask for lessons.
But if I can make a very general observation. I start with a
conclusion based on personal experience. Anyone that thinks blacks are
"dumber" is deluded. I also believe Herrnstein, Murray, Sowell, etal has
uncovered evidence that blacks have gotten the short end of the stick.
We have a lot of evidence that point to the same conclusion in
different areas. A black male, I am told, will live roughly ten years less
than a white male -- the difference being the additional stress that the
black male endures. The same parallel shows up with women.
John Taylor Gatto makes some comments about how the black student got
short changed when he tried to learn to read. The same argument holds today.
If I can expand my comments to include the territory you were taking
in. In the factorys when I am in factorys located in white slums I see the
same stuff as you would see with any other underclass. I recently read a
book about conditions in England among the underclass, same thing. In fact
the authors Davidson and Rees-Mogg report that if you go into a major city on
any of the continents on Earth and seek out the slums you will see and hear
the same things -- only the language and skin color changes.
But the criticism of TBC and others covers up the fact that here in
the US we have a problem that is our responsibility and need to find out what
we are doing wrong.
