This reminded me of something I heard from a friend about DMT - that it (or
its components) naturally occurs in the human body but is only synthesized
after the body is dead (or something). Now this friend is by no means a
reliable source, but the concept was too interesting for me to dismiss
sooo... I tried looking it up but the closest thing I could find to support
this was really vague

If DMT were naturally produced by the body after death & taking it (smoke or
snuff) produced a similar effect, then there might be something to really
investigate. (Doubtful, but...) Perhaps there is some substance in this? An
idea of an afterlife somehow ingrained in our physiology (yikes)? BUT since
there doesn't seem to be much evidence for that, I would guess drugs (like
hallucinogens) were probably a factor for the guys making up whatever story of
the afterlife.
