Exploration is the "goal" of life. Don't forget we can reset ourselves later
if we suffer from ennui. Some things depend on how extropic the Singularity
is, i.e. does it approach-infinity-continuously a la Tipler.

Whether we are in the Matrix or not, we should construct ethical systems
that supercede such limitations. Ethical rules should have a base minimum
which encompasses respect for choice and informed consent and protective
shielding against non-consensual force.

Genes or memes, selfish or otherwise, become less relevant in an
evolutionary sense when previous stages can be recapture or evoked. Rules of
choice and consent to obtain past information may mean that exact replicas
cannot always be recreated but events involving the actor directly (the
person involved) may be accessible via information storage or Tiplerian
mechanisms. Either way, this can mean that "survival of the fittest" becomes
redundant. For example, even though the Repulican movement shrinks to zero %
of sentient beings in 2 billion years from now, some former Republican can
revive it at any time via his memory storage (library). Dumb analogy? Maybe,
maybe not.
