I second this. I certainly understand your frustration. I myself
quit the list about once a week and then rejoin. It is sad that we
can't get anywhere and all our transhumanist goals will probably be
ruined by politics. It is frustrating to have the same predictable
arguments over and over again. It is especially disturbing to see
next century's topics overrun by last century's dogma.

I don't know what to do about this problem. Giving up and letting the
loud voices win isn't the answer. But sacrificing oneself to be beat
up online day in and day out isn't the answer either. All I know is
that I, like you need a break from this. In fact, you have inspired
me to stop talking about it: I have just committed to taking a week
of vacation next week. I plan to avoid this list while I am on
vacation, and hope to return refreshed and relaxed.

I hope you, too, consider returning after you recover from the battles
on this list. I just wish we could think of a way to make the good
outweigh the bad. Please enjoy your time away from us and know that
our warmest thoughts and sympathies go with you!
