'Samantha is operating with a rather uninformed conception of how
international relations truly operates. Perhaps Harvey has a better
idea, given his past employers, among others on the list. The US
operates absolutely NO DIFFERENTLY than any other major country. We are
just far more leaky about it, and are the only ones with a truly free
press, so our bad behavior is the only one that regularly leaks to the
world, though it is no different from the rest of the kids on the block.'
i beg to differ with harvey, i think the cia operates differently to most
other spy agencies in the level of self direction, setting own it's agenda
indifferent to the will of the polits,
similar to the roman praetorian guard,
real enterprisers when it comes to self-funding, and influences american
elections against it's mandate
think the policy was established post war by the bitter disaffected germans
drafted into the agency, who will never trust polits/public again,
the euro polits tend to keep a tight fist around their spy agencies having
learned from nasty experience,
lets not forget saddam made his jump to power from head of the secret
police, as did many dictators, v. putin is a old kgb hand, the leader
