You've heard of SAP? (Worlds #2 software company. It is
located about 10km from here.)

They suck up an unusually large number of the newly minted
PhD astrophysicists and physicists in this part of the Rhein
valley. The president is a physicist, himself.

(The job market for scientists in Germany is extremely poor, and for
astronomers even more so.)
