"We don't know when our name came into being or how some distant ancestor
acquired it. We don't understand our name at all, we don't know its history
and yet we bear it with exalted fidelity, we merge with it, we like it, we
are ridiculously proud of it as if we had thought it up ourselves in a
moment of brilliant inspiration." Milan Kundera

"To name oneself is the first act of both the poet and the revolutionary.
When we take away the right to an individual name, we symbolically take
away the right to be an individual.

Friends,

Alrighty. I'll let you know, since some seem to be preoccupied with my
name.

The fact is that the Superior Court filed my documents with my name
misspelled. Instead of Nastassja, it was spelled Natasha. So, I was stuck
with Natasha.

It's probably for the best. Natasha is easy to pronounce and easy to spell.

My name is me. It comes from no where other than a reflective personal
place in me and my biological family. So, you ask, why am I half German
with a Russian sounding name? Because it sounds sweet to my ears and I
need that sweetness in my life, just as we all do. We want to feel
comfortable about our names and to respond with a positive outlook when we
hear the sound of our name pronounced. It simply feels good.

Questions? -:)

ended up a nun or this."

"A name pronounced is the recognition of the individual to whom it belongs.
He who can pronounce my name aright, he can call me, and is entitled to my
