That is certainly true but morally I don't think you can compare the
deliberate bombing of civilians in WW2 to doing the same thing in Vietnam
because the stakes were so much higher in one than the other. Other than
avoiding a little embarrassment I don't see how the USA would be much better
off today if it had won the Vietnam War, on the other hand the loss of WW2
would have led to death or a reduction to such a state that you'd beg for
death.
