20th CENTURY SCIENCE CATEGORIES

I was debating with a friend on how you would write up periods of tech
effects in the 20th century in broad terms, say three or four categories
(just as the Cold War is an historical category in a book on world hitory).
So it leaves out smaller categories (?) like a specific communications
mechanism like television or satellite transmission. Okay. My bet was:

POWER [early 20th century, electrical and internal combustion engine]

COMPUTING [1940s on really, including software]

MOLECULAR ENGINEERING [nanotechnology, beginning 1990s and genetics
beginning 1990s].

===

Not perhaps a standard selection but I think its a good fit. Alternative
suggestions (three or four categories max!)

Towards Ascension!
