Haha. Okay seriously, it's this type of thinking that works toward keeping
people unhealthy today. There is more to exercise than facilitating weight
loss. Some people enjoy being athletic because it "feels" good. Also, if
we toss in some IQ, it is best for our heart, digestive system, cognitive
process, and overall attitude, not to mention that the largest organ in our
bodies (and the most futuristic organ - the skin - needs to sweat in order
to maintain the body temperature equilibrium).
True, one day soon we will have a nano-scale weight modulating system
imbedded in each and everyone of our cells to knock off the fat and other
sticky, accumulating pesky hanger-on stuff, from our bodies. Yet,
athletics is probably one of the most beneficial and mood alternative
activities that we can do!
Just imagine in the centuries to come when we ice skate the microns to
meters water ice rings of Saturn; skip across the circular highway of the
Sun and leap across its 40,000 asteroids in the Asteroid Belt; sail the
Solar System; and scuba dive the methane and high-altitude photochemical
smog or 9 dust rings of Uranus! Why do we even want to do this? Because
we love the feeling we get from being exposed to the elements and using our
bodies, whatever form or shape they may evolve into, to romp around and
explore.
